Marcus Brown

Songwriter, podcast host, and avid blogger, Marcus Brown sure is a "swell guy." His new record GO LET GO is already "making waves like the ocean crashing against the beach," says local random guy speaking to no one in general. His podcast Make My Day is "Incredible," according to one Wikipedia coauthor. You're sure to "love" Marcus, says TV commercial announcer guy...

Day 2: Abilene Again

I performed at Play Faire Park last night. You know, that mini golf course I was telling you about? Its the longest continually operated course in Texas (64 years or something close to that). Did you know that you shouldn't call it "Putt-Putt" unless its an official "Putt-Putt" course. Basically its like how we call tissue "Kleenex" or soda "Coke." FASCINATING.

Anyway, the show went pretty well. I had these four hooligans plop their lawn chairs right in front of me. They cheered for the entirety of the 3 hr show, gave me a couple of beers, and dropped some change in the *SPIT* jar. I had a good time. I had to push myself to play that long. I'm gonna have to keep writing as I'm out here to beef up my catalogue. A lot of these gigs are three forty five minute sets. I have a little over two...

The man in charge over at Play Faire is this badass, grey, longhaired, cigarette smoking son of a gun named Doc. He doesn't really like rap. He seems to like Hillary Clinton. I think part of his finger was missing, or maybe curled under. He was really hospitable and we had a pretty good talk. He's worried about his grandkids, and he's pissed that he's leaving them this world. He's a pretty proud dude, in a good way.

I've realized I have to get better at guitar. Its sort of upsetting. I distract myself by my less than stellar play. I've always leaned on my voice and my writing, but its a total package deal. I guess I've got a lot of time on my hands...
